Chrome printing / machine identification

Hi all,
I'm looking for some opinions / information regarding chrome printing and other metalized printing options.
We manufacture kart and motox decals and often get requests for chrome colors, holographic effects and fluro colors.
I have noticed other manufactures in the UK and Europe have achieved this (please see attached my photo examples). Their print media looks to be about 700mm wide.
I have been researching the Summa DC5 thermal printer as this seems to be my only option for 1370mm wide chrome foil printing.
The Summa thermal printers are rarely used in my country and the information I've received from their sole distributor here is fairly vague especially for my market interests.
Just seeing if anyone on here has some information or thoughts on how these print examples have been achieved and peoples thoughts on the DC5?
Many thanks in advance.

We have the DC3

Summa does have a nice chrome ribbon, and last I saw they have a few other chrome colors, But I believe it is rated for INDOOR. It has been my experience that Summa has great tech support and their printers are workhorses, we use ours for small deals now a days, we really had to work at getting a smooth gradient - I mainly try to print using spot colors. They may have made improvements to the DC5 and the gradient, I do know. Hope this helps a little.

I'd suggest that all of those samples are printed on chrome material. You need a printer that will print white, not chrome.
Both the Summa and the Gerber Edge will print white and than the appropriate overprinted colors.

I noticed the right hand side registration marks on the orange print. They look like Roland's "bat and ball" from VersaWorks. Not sure if other RIP's use the same scheme.

I print on chrome with our Roland. VinylEFX is the brand.

As was previously mentioned, most of the prints in your photos look like color printed on chrome vinyl. The bottom two pictures do look like Summa prints, however. The holographic pattern was created using our rose holographic ribbon and the bottom photo clearly shows the opti-trac marks that are used by the DC4 & DC5. I would think that the DC5 would be a good fit for these types of prints, provided the white ribbon will transfer.

Please feel free to reach out via email at philj@summa.us if you have any questions about the printer and I would be happy to help.

Best regards,
