City logo design critique

This is more of a placeholder than a full blown city logo. There will be a brand actually developed in a couple of years, this is just a simple image to stick on a few promotional pieces and temporary signs until then.

The bridge and the Coosa River are focal points for the city and other than a casino and a meteor crater there's not really another landmark to build on.

Any thoughts or suggestions that don't involve ladders or meteors falling out of the sky?

I'd say I like the first one the better, however for me I have a problem distinguishing the "u" and the "m" with that particular font. I guess living in that area it'd be more recognizable... but for me, I wanted to be sure what I was seeing was a "u" and googled ""Wetumpka" to make sure. Maybe it's just me though...

I'm in the South...I think 50% of the city names around here are indian names. Wetumpka is a Creek Indian word for "rumbling waters" because of the rapids on the river. I still like to tell people it's an indian word for "speed trap on the way to the lake".

Our indians were Creek Indians...not big on feathers, wigwams, or canoes.

would also make the bridge a different color and/or the town's name so the water design is more apparent since that is where the town's name comes from.

unreadable. i don't work with fonts ever. think of a client that is not familiar
with all the scripts and such. the letters just look like scribble to me and will
for most civilians.

I like number three if "Alabama" were the color from number one, might get lost with the blue text and the blue waves

Man that's handy...if nothing else it made me realize I've got some horrendous fonts loaded.

I really like the first one, just a thought...maybe incorporate the adjoining wave on the left into the 't'...but maybe that is too much...just a thought though

I like them all 3 is the best and there is nothing wrong with fonts. If anyone has an issue with fonts you used they know nothing of layouts

Well I'm happy that everyone can use the link. It was here on 101 that I first learned of it several years ago. It sure does come in handy when you're looking for just the right font with just the right feel.
