CJV Perm Chips Question

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question if I go perm chip route do I need 8 chips for double cmyk or can i get along with just 4 as I noted that the printer only uses one of each colour cart and then auto switches to the other when ink has ran out.

My theory is if its only using 1 cart at a time then 1 chip should only be needed?

Yes you can get away with only 4 carts plugged in or recognized, but the machine will complain audibly (with an intermittent beep) and visually ( red LED's and warning on the control panel).I have 8 permanent chips on mine and it's nice to have the machine sitting there thinking it's got 8 full carts. Probably worth it just for that.
