Cleaning part way thru print

Greetings!

Our VP-540 has suddenly started pausing and cleaning part way through a print. I've checked the "periodic clean" setting, and it is set to "none" (default). This issue seems to have developed just in the last couple of days. The print does resume after the cleaning process, but it is naturally slowing things down.

Does anyone have any ideas why this would suddenly start?

Using aftermarket inks? Roland has a trick in their firmware to waste ink when it sees aftermarket ink chips in a printer that you now own.
