Clear, thick, permanent vinyl?

I have a project calling for a clear contour cut decal with permanent adhesive and a thickness like 6 mil. Its too small of a quantity to send to Stouse, and the dimensions are large enough that it needs some body/thickness so your average person can apply it. Permanent because the removables we've tried don't hold up very long outdoors. We're trying to avoid the cost and hassle of laminating, because these orders will be small in quantity, but very regular and we want to get them out quick. Seems like there should be the perfect material we're looking for out there, but I'm not having much luck finding it. Thanks sign community! - James

I'm unaware of any thicker clear permanent print medias other than 3 or 4mils. If you have a UV printer, one product I think is cool is Retac Clear which is a pvc-free PET film with their Retac adhesive. While it isn't permanent, it won't go anywhere unless someone wants to remove it. The reason this comes to mind is it has no stretch and is very easy to apply.

I was also trying to think of some thicker laminates as laminates are pretty much the same as "permanent clear". Other than textured floor lams, most of those clears are still in the 3mil world.

I'd run these on OraCal 3551 Rapid Air polymetric intermediate vinyl and use an intermediate laminate. Weed, trim out and ready to apply The Rapid Air (air release) is perfect for ease of installation and being polymetric it would be very stable. Other brands should have equivalents.

We've used General Formulations floor graphic laminate for this several times before. Some of them are anti-slip but still have a nice smooth finish.

There are also laminates made for motocross etc that are in the 6-9mil range from Substance, GF and others that work well too.

Rapid Air isn’t available in clear. OP requires clear vinyl.

Probably looking for something like LexEdge decals with those specs, but pictures or spec sheets would help a lot in determining the best material for the application.

Thank you everybody. Love the idea of the printable laminate - makes sense why companies wouldn't necessarily market a separate print substrate when laminate fits the bill. Off to testing.... Thx.
