i know there are other threads about this but this question has not been asked or answered.
these two devices have been recommended in other threads but has anyone actually bought and used either of these?

Friend of mine has nix and he loves it. Does a lot of interior signage so he uses it to match wall paint colors and stuff like that often. He has an iphone and an android phone, he says the ios app is light years ahead of the android app. That was also a few months ago he told me that so it may be better now.

We've been using CATZper and it's been dead balls on about 99.9% of the time. Sometimes, but very seldom, it comes up with colors that are beyond our printers capabilities, which if that's the case, how does it make it for us to see, but not use ??

Anyway, it's an easy setup, but it came with the unit when we bought it. The distributor where we got it no longer exists, so you'd hafta probably google CATZper Color Matching.

I got a NIX sensor - use it with an android phone. Most often, it works great (usually, if its "off" - its way off, so its an obvious problem, and detectable right away)
They are constantly updating the apps these days too.

thanks for the info.

gino we used catzper for a while and it worked ok. we found that a lot of colors went outside our printer's gamut . it worked in most cases but we also had a lot of times we would find a color close and then re-enter that color so it could calculate even closer to where we needed to be. we just have a lot of situations where we need to match specific color whether it be pms or customers logo colors.
we also do a lot of military work and the military has their own color standard book we have to follow.

was asking about these specific devices because they are inexpensive and easy to use with out paying a monthly fee like catzper.
we are also looking at the i-one unit as well

I have i1 systems, and the SwatchMate Cube measurement device. The Cube began shipping in November. It seems to work well, I use the IOS-based app. The Cube is a spherical geometry device, which means that it 'should be' more accurate on non-flat surfaces than a 45 degree geometry device, such as the i1. I don't know much about the Nix sensor's measurement geometry.
