Colored LED modules in channel letters

I'm converting neon channel letters into LEDs. The faces have been redone a few months ago and are white acrylic with red translucent and blue translucent vinyl applied to first surface. Would white LEDs work in this case since it's translucent vinyl instead of pigmented acrylic? Usually when I get new channel letters built, they use colored LEDs to correspond to the letter color... like red LEDs for red pigmented acrylic.

Thanks!

Arial Sucks.
If the red and blue vinyl is applied to the same letter then you have to light it with white LEDs. If some letter faces are covered solid with red vinyl and other letters are completely covered with blue vinyl then red and blue LEDs could be used. I think red and blue channel letter faces get the best lighting results by using red and blue acrylics along with the red and blue LEDs.

White LEDs will look fine with translucent vinyls on white acrylic. The colors may not be quite as rich as pigmented acrylic with colored LEDs, but it will be fine.

I didn't know this was done. Regarding the dirty letters I'm dealing with in another thread, the faces appear to be yellow pigmented acrylic, but at night they look more like a neon green. Is that an issue with the bulbs or the faces?
