Copied object is pasting darker than original

I need some help. When I copy say a square with the color blue, it is pasting as a purple-ish color. Then, just to see what it would do, I copy/pasted the purple... did the same thing a couple more times and ended up with a brown color. How do I get my copied objects to be the same color!?

Also, I just had to uninstall/re-install corelDRAW x4 and after the new installation is when this all started happening.

Thanks!

It could be the way colors are appearing on screen, in CorelDRAW versus the program you're pasting into (check the actual color values)

Also, if pasting a CorelDRAW object, by default CMYK into Photoshop for example, where the file is RGB, you'll see a color-shift, typically darker.

Lastly, CorelDRAW screen drivers are magenta light. Purplish stuff looks more blue. Also the "Blue" on the CorelDRAW pallet is magenta-heavy. Build your own by sampling the color in Photoshop, which tends to look on-screen much more like what you'll get when printing. That alone, IMO, warrants owning a copy Photoshop, which is a terrific product going way back to 7, which you can buy online really cheaply.

thanks jim and jhill.

jim, i am copy/pasting directly into corel only. when pasted, the color properties do change.
also, it is happening with any color that i use: red, green, blue, pink, yellow...

jhill, i did have overprints turned on, but nothing changed when i went back to enhanced.

is there anything else that i should try? it's really frustrating when i have to change colors of every little thing every single time.

Thanks jhill!

That worked great. Not sure what happened to make it do that, but it's working now.
