Corel version for Windows 2000

Can anyone tell me which version to get to go with Windows 2000? Yes, i'm a total newbie. I've got a Roland PNC 1100, and i'd like to try out Corel Draw, because i've heard good things about it and it seems to be cheaper than many other software brands. Can i use Corel alone for making basic sign designs, or do i need other software to go with it? I'm finding it hard to wade through all the info on the internet on my own. Any advice will be much appreciated!
