Crest Design

Had a customer walk in today who wanted something different than just text and turned out he wanted a crest. I obliged .. but I'm not sure it sits with me. He went with the one on the right since I had just enough blue chrome and gold chrome to do the job. Any who .. critiques always welcome.

Don't care for the fonts too much. I would have made the middle text go with the diamond shape too.

I'm going to have to agree with the font, customer fell in lust with that one over the others. Not enough character for the crest. I played with it (photochopped since I am at home now) I think that I would kill the diamond shape next time (square it off) and try to convince the driver of something like the attached file. Oh well, customer loved it so if he's happy, I'm happy.

He lusted after that font cuz it's a 70s porno font.
He must have been subliminally reminded about the good times at the old drive in.
It's kind of like using Chinet with a linen tablecloth.
It's good to see that you are practicing on your own with nicer fonts, even if it's a done deal.

Thanks. Might try two next time. Though most of this stuff that I'm ever so "meh!" about is usually from the customer not wanting to pay for design time. Sort of a "good, he likes this one lets see what I can do that isn't just cut and slap." ... that and I'm not trying to actively create schizophrenic lettering on the side of rigs. Had one guy come in, had the company he was leased to he had the name in Impact, the rest of the lettering for the name ("leased to" and "place, st") in old english, and every other line of lettering was different styles of old english, arial or times roman. For his Owned and Operated he wanted in something else. Nevermind the schizophrenic colors ... practically a rainbow of lettering. So normally even on things like this I try to keep it simple, find something the customer likes and would even get the "wow" factor from them, cut and move on (i generally try to stay under about 5 or 10 minutes of design time in those cases .. this one was 4 minutes of pen tool action) ... sticking with this one since I could at least modify it for a sample on the wall if I get it looking right.

Nice lol...
I don't think it's bad atall
Not fond of the font entirely, only because of little things like the C so tight, and it all kerns ever so funkily. So I'd prefer a different bold font like BOLT, Olive Antique Bold, Incised, or even Bahamas over Bauhaus
But it is a quick wam bam thankyamaam big bold trucker font. I've certainly seen some gaudy crap out there.

Thing is, you say 3 diff logos... theyre all the same in my book. 1 line art, 1 simple color (for things like embroidery) and 1 full color (gradients). Done.

Alot better than the photoshop 'hey I think I'll use every wizbang filter available' logos where they realize too late its more difficult to remove color on a bad design than it is to add color to a good one.
