I’m still using CS-2 on my computer and after a few minutes of having the program downsized….. when I bring it back up… all the working windows are situated in the middle of the screen on top of one another. I can’t find in preferences or wherever to keep this from happening.

Any ideas………… ?? :thankyou:

You cant, however... you can set a custom workspace and have your pallettes located where you like them with a mouse click,

/Window/Workspace/Save Workspace or Manage Workspace.

Any ideas………… ??

Yeah....throw the thing in the dumpster (like we have all threatened to do a million times) :Big Laugh:Big Laugh

Seriously, not sure if I am even close for your problem but your "workspace" prefs are under the "windows" tab above.

...no really, that is quite an odd one... I've thought I'd seen it all, but never had that happen. I know I have to hit the tab key sometimes, when my tool bars blank out, the tab key hides them, and a second click of the tab key brings them back to normal... I guess that might be worth a try.

Another old trick that used to work on various oddities.. but since getting into the newer CS upgrades... I havn't tried it in a awhile... locating a file called aiprefs, deleting that, and then restarting the program, which will reset the "prefs" to a default setting.

Good Luck!

Another thing to check is to see if you accidentally turned on "Zoom All Windows" Click the Zoom tool and up top you should see a check box to see if this is turned on. If it is then sometimes when you have too many windows open and you minimize Photoshop when you pull it back up your windows are all jumbled on top of one another all zoomed to the same location.

Thanks all....... it's been happening almost anytime I downsize Illustrator and do other things for a while and then go back in to re-work or work on something new. BINGO,,,, everything is just scrunched in the middle and I'm constantly having to put them back along the edges. It's not difficult to re-arrange them.... just a nuisance. I also figured there was a quick fix.
I tried your fix Mason...... thanks............. Gino

 I don't think I had anything to drink [alcoholic] since last night... so i don't think that's it Doug, but thanks for reminding me that I'm getting dry..................

So far Mason, but I haven't been out of it long enough to make sure. It seems to have something to do with not using it for a period of time. I can't put my finger on the time span. Sometimes it seems lie it was only five minutes or so and other times maybe 1/2 an hour or more. We'll see.

thanks again.............

No, it's still centering everything on the page after going away from it for a short while.
