Cutting Edgecap ?

I am trying to cut plastic edgecap on 45degree angles and just not getting nice fittings. I tried using a miter saw but that just blows the plastic apart. I have tried using an exacto and that just doesn't give me the nice 45 you need to make them buttup against each other nicely.

Any suggestions or better yet a tool to do it?

Thank you!

They make a tool specifically for that at 1/4" and 1/2". I bought mine at a trade show in Atlantic City about 20 years ago. I don't know what they're called, but even a jewelite cutter will do it.

I use a Japanese flush cut saw and a miter box to get perfect 45 degree angles.
A pull saw will also give you a nice cut.
