Cutting Vinyl Objects in Order

Morph1

Print all
Hey there,

I just have a quick question,
I'm using roland gx-24 to cut vinyl, I've noticed that when it cuts it wonders from side to side and randomly picks objects to cut, example it will start the outter O stroke then it goes cuts a T A whatever and then it comes back to finish the center of the O....,
Sometimes it makes the centers mis alighned...,
Is there a way that it will cut from start progresively to the end...,
I am using Flexi to cut my graphics....

thanks.

thanks,

I was wondering if un-compounding and compounding holding the SHIFT button (adding) would make a difference ....

ya that is one thing i hate about it too, i will have like 15 objects on one sheet that is 4ft long and it will cut the very far one then come back to the front and then go back to the middle and just jump everywhere. anyone know way to fix that?

In my software there is a "sort order" function.....I do not have Flexi so no idea where it is in Flexi...

I use VMP pro with the GX24 and even if I optimize the cuts it still cuts here and there, I think it's so that it's spreading the cutting so that the drag doesn't pull the vinyl in one direction .... sorta evens out all the cutting front / back/ both sides so that it won't pull the vinyl off course.
Usually cuts not joining where it starts and finishes a cut in a circle etc are offset values are not correct.

I believe in Flexi it cuts them by their order front to back. In other words if you select one letter and "bring to front" then select the letter beside it and "send to back" I think the front one will cut first, then everything else (in front to back order) then the very back one last. I'd have to double check to be sure but I think thats how it sends a job to a cutter but it's been a while since I've messed with it in that respect. I just send the jobs and let it go as it does - all over the place - does not really bother me much.

It should. Every time the media takes a trip back and forth there's a non-zero probability that it's going to skew one way or the other. You want to at least try set things up so the the media experiences as little motion as possible.

I used to have an ANAGRAPH 48" cutter with some odd software I cant recal the name, but in the program I could break everything apart and join objects one by one in order I wanted it to bu cut - a full control...,
Maybe Roland is not capable to follow / detect this sort of data input.....,
or perhaps its Flexi..., I wonder if anyone here uses signlab with Roland GX24 , maybe it will listen to SignLab lol
