Cyan print quality

We just got our Falcon Jr up and running and bought new ink cartridges for it since the old ones were all bad. We did a print and every color printed great except for the cyan. I attached a picture of it. For some reason its getting some banding as well as the dots are a lot more noticeable. Would this be because of old ink from the cyan cartdrige being in the lines still or is this another issue?

Here is the picture of the nozzle check. For some reason its just the blues and greens that arent printing correctly. They have lines going through them and the quality just isnt very good.

Looks like the K head is out of alignment and the heads need cleaning & a soaking.

Like jackpine said,

Black needs a mechanical aligment compared to the color head (see service manual). All colors miss one or more nozzles which directly reflect in the banding in printouts.

Red and green are composed by the CYM colors so if CYM nozzles are missing this also reflects the red green and blue in the testprint.

New link to the test file.

What vinyl are you using and what temps on heaters.

We knew that the black head needed some adjusting, we just havent done that yet. We will go ahead and do the cleaning and soaking and see if that helps.

We are using substance vinyl and the front heater is set at 49 celsius and the fixed heater is set at 55 celsius

Heres 2 close up pictures from the file. It printed a little better. We took off the cyan damper and noticed that it looked like there was dried ink in there somehow. We replaced it with a different one we had and it was printing the green better but there was still noticeable banding. Im not sure if we should keep doing a cleaning or try something else?

Machine selftest showed left top nozzle missing. Is this still the case?
Do not look at green but at cyaan print quality. if cyan is not 100% the green will not be either.
Is the color head new?
Is the wiper new?
Did you use a cleaning stick to clean/rub the color head?

Here a close up of how my testprint and CYMK test print looks like.
The black has some deflections which I have to clean away with a swap in cleaning fluid.
Printed on Arlon 4560GTX with 50/50 heater temp setting with Flexi 8.1 with custom profile.

Thanks for all the help. We had the black lined up and then it stated to just print bad quality and now it wont print black or color at all. We had the machine unplugged every time we were working on it. We just have nothing left to try and cant keep putting money into it.

Dont give up we had more severe cases solved here.................:)
If the right front of the machine is removed and you can see the whole cleaning process check for the pads in the cappingstation at the end of the cleaning cycle are fuly wet and the ink is purged away from it.
As in the picture this is how it should look like when a cleaning is done.
If it is not the cappingstation leaks air or the pump does not suck in.

Use a syringe to pull through the cappinstation when the head is parked on it.
Also check the white tubes running from the cappingstation they clog easily and prevent the pump to suck ink.

Our capping station looks the same as the one in the picture. The one thing we noticed is that when were doing a cleaning the black ink goes into the waste bottle but there is no color ink going through the tubes. Were going to check the white tubes to make sure they aren't clogged. The only thing that seems weird is that for the one test print it started printing bad and then after that it stopped printing all together. We have a new headboard on the printer and it has always been unplugged when working on it so were hoping that didn't go again.

It just started to print a little bit of cyan. For some reason its like the yellow and magenta lines wont hold ink though. We can suck the ink to the dampers but when we go to print it drains out of the lines. The ink pump and the capping station were brand new.

The fact you tell there is no inkflow from the colors to the waste bottle means there is an airleak or no suction in the tubes running from the cartridge to the cappingstation or the cappingstation is not working.
Put the head on the cappingstation and place a syringe on the white tube of the cappingstation color and try to pull ink and feel if there is back pressure on it or the ink flows freely into the syringe.
Does black print anyway. IF it has printed forget about the head board. concentrate on the inkflow. Is the color tube running from the pump to the waste bottle free?

Dont give up........

We just put the head over the capping station and attached a syringe to the color hose from the capping station. We were able to get every line to fill up with ink and flow into the syringe. The black isnt printing at all but it had ink going into the waste tank.

We did a test print and its printing color now but not black. Were going to try the same thing with the black even though it was putting ink into the waste tank. If that doesn't work hopefully we can figure something else out!
