Daige solo 38"

Hey guys, Moving into a bigger place within the next week and a half. I will have room for a real laminator and really want to get one.

I'll be using it to laminate prints and to occasionally pre-mask if i have a long run. The BS i am using works good for small stuff but if i have a longer run like over 6', I can't do it due to my table size and then with the silvering and all. I could get a larger table but i do want a laminator to speed up things.

I'm on a budget and can't really afford one that is 3,4,5 grand so the daige solo 38" looks like a good one to get. My business partner has a quickmount 4 and it works good for him. He prints waterbased and then overlaminates posters and such.

Does anyone who has this model have tips or anything i should know before buying?

I seen to laminate prints you pretty much need a "sled" to put the prints on, Can't you just not use a sled and use the bottom metal platten?

Thanks!

Look into buying a used laminator. There are plenty of used units available.

The 38" is not going to be fill your future needs... why spend the money on it now only to be stuck with a laminator no one is going to want later?

I had a Daige laminator. The sled thing sucks. If you are going to be a signman, then use manly equipment... *snickering*

1. Don't buy a daige.
2. Buy a laminator larger than 54". You will need it eventually.
3. Don't buy a daige.

Honestly, I really don't want to spend anything crazy but I do understand that you get what you pay for. Reason I'm considering is my biz partner uses one and has had no problems.

John, I didn't have many problems with mine, either. It was a cheap basic no frills laminator. It is just very limited.

That being said, having used other laminators, the ease of use and time saved is going to make up the difference in cost. The bigger size will be a boon in the future when you get a bigger printer.

But, hey, don't listen to us... What the hell do we know? LOL!
