Our first rottie was like Sheldon. You never sat in her spot. She'd start with a staring contest, then a nudge, then a low rumble. Never showed any teeth or got aggressive in any way.
Friends and family found it amusing and would occasionally sit in her spot just to get her going.
love me some dobies. i have a 70 lb pitbull that is pretty amazing at knowing whether you should be there or not. i left my back door open on accident so my neighbors called the cops to check it out. apparently she came charging through the house, cop slammed the door, and said yeaaaaa, we don't need to search, i'm pretty sure if anyone is in there, they aren't alive or are suffering.
other than that, she is a big ball of cuddle to everyone as long as she has met you before or i'm there.

I have been bitten 4 times, and 2 of them were by a doberman. Once was my fault... I was at a girl friends house, and we were in the yard playing around, and I was chasing her. The dog was protecting his family. The second time was I was buying a washer and I followed the owner, and the dog came out of nowhere and latched on.
that sucks, both sound like they were doing was they thought they were supposed to be doing. usually pretty territorial.
