Definition of "banner"

Okay, maybe it's me. I ordered 3 10 oz indoor banners for a customer from 40ver. My printer is down...bah humbug. Anyway, we use a 10 oz banner material that is a smooth scrim material much like the 13 oz., just smoother and thinner. I received my order today and it's like plastic (not tyvec) almost like you'd put in a lighted case for pop display. They refuse to reprint on banner material and so I'm out the $$. Would you consider that a plastic material to be a "banner".

1st off......BANNERS ARE TEMPORARY SIGNS!!!!!! in saying that 6- 12 MONTHS is all they should be good for. expecting anymore is foolish. that being said, it dont much matter what material its on........for short term TEMPORARY SIGNAGE. HEAVY DUTY banner material, now those are for something that happens for a period EVERY YEAR, but are never up more then 30-60 days.....

Banners have so many meanings it ain't even funny. Like OP said, it can be anything as long as it's temporary. Had you said 'SCRIM' banner, then perhaps you'd have a case.

Our newspaper sells 'Banner Ads', there are moving or scrolling banners on websites, paper banners, oil cloth banners, banner ups, vinyl banners and wooden banners.... as long as they are considered temporary.

Eating it on your part might be an expensive lesson this time around, but you'll know better to ask more questions next time.

Also, you've probably opened a lot of peoples eyes, here on the forum. Hopefully it won't be as painful for others, but it always helps when we all talk the same talk.

I don't see anything wrong with poly banners, as long as you are using them inside. That's what is used to print the majority of stock slogans on banners -- "Now Open," "Coming Soon," "Grand Opening," etc.

why are you out the cash? give them to your client and tell them have a great day. if it is the first time they order they would not know what you normally print the banners on.

What you see as "cheap" maybe be just right in the clients eyes.

banner is a general term. could be scrim, smooth, canvas, poly, tyvek, paper (old school continuous fan fold feed paper), mesh, fabric, etc. etc.

Why didn't you just order the outdoor banners from 4 0ver they are 13oz scrim. I only order the outdoor stuff and haven't been disappointed. Better to sell someone something they can use inside or outside.
