Design positioning

I designed a 2' x 5' banner. I'm printing on 38" material. The banner design has roughly 4" of white space all around it before the text to allow for hemming etc.

When I go to print my banner, Flexi is forcing all the text to the very bottom and right.

How do I set this up so that it's printing where I want it to print (The actual document size)?

I've figured a work around and that's by putting a white wire framed box around the document size (since my printer does not print white). Is that how your supposed to do it? or is there something I'm missing. I called SW tech support and the guy on the phone just didn't seam to get what I was asking him and I got frustrated and said forget it.

Thanks

I never design for print in flexi unless it has a contour cut so it makes it a little easier. I design in photoshop and export to flattened pdf and just import/open in flexi and print/rip so it has the borders intact. I also always put a .01 outline so that it makes hemming easier if i am printing one with a white background.

Do you put the .01 border on the "finish size"?

If you were doing a 2' x 5' banner would you put the border at 24" x 60" or a little inside or outside?

Using a 38" roll for a 36"x60" finished size, I make a black line on either side of the banner that is 37" (or max it depending on parameters) and space them 1" from the banner. Then I delete the banner shape. This gives me trim lines on either side, for a pre-hemmed size of 38"x62". When I print, I just center it. And this way the print head doesn't have to travel all the way to print a black outline around the whole thing. Think of all the seconds saved!

In the Rip/Print window on the front tab (General tab) there is a "Position" box where you can change the starting point of the print.
