In general Flexi + vector gradients = buckets of fail. Rasterize the PDF in Photoshop at 150 or so DPI. Save that as a tiff and print that instead.

I get a rip error from the tiff. I really think its a setting causing the issue. These same files printed fine yesterday. I was having problems with Production Manager not opening my rendering intent options. So i reinstalled FLexi.

It's been my experience that flexi and illustrator don't always like each other and flexi won't behave how you want it to with these files. Usually it's ai files that a "graphic designer" designed and it's some moron that doesn't know what the hell they are doing. You may have to have the "designer" turn the art into a jpg to print correctly.

Screen cap and print a small test print of that in a new file.
That will tell you if it's the file.
If it is the file I'd work on exporting it til I found a acceptable answer.

I have had problems with gradients taking forever or locking up when sent. Then a tif copy gigantically larger in size zoom through.

Have you printed other thing fine? Sounds like your darker/lighter could be a printer issue.

"Screen cap" = "Screen capture." There are several free programs out there that will do this for you. I have been using a free screen capture program from AnalogX for years.

screen capture can be done with print screen key on keyboard an the pasted into your graphics program or microsoft paint {cough/gag}.

A screen capture would be the same thing as flattening it. U am trying to find out what is aiding this in PDF. The workaround works great. Just trying to find out how to do it an skipp the photoshop step.

You hit the nail on the head. This designer is clueless. Trying to do huge designs with pics includes in illustrator, and then trying to throw effects on top of them. I could tell what to dO it in, but I don't get paid to teach. At least not them.
