difference between pvc and non-pvc films?

Hey folks, i'm a little confused on what PVC versus non-pvc film. For example 3M Envision 8548G is a non-pvc film. Is it OK to use with both cast and calandered digitally printed media? can someone explain the differences and applications?

I'm using calendered media for our opaque and translucent prints, and cast (3m ij180c) for vehicle wraps. Is a non-pvc laminate something that could be used on both?

Yes very much so.... It acts like a super cast but has a few additional properties like no memory and very good heat resistance.

8548 is an awesome laminate.
