Hello,
I have a Mutoh printer VJ 1324. I'm looking to get a UV printer soon.
The Eco solvent prints beautiful images but on the wrong material it can scratch fairly easily if not laminated. If you have a 2 sided sign and the printed side is against vinyl (printed or unprinted) it can tear the ink off the printed one. I've had this happen even a week or two after it was printed. I still love the printer, I've just learned how to handle it better.
The other day I got in signs and a banner where the ink felt like it was laying on top the signs and almost like a leathery feel--even "oily" but it was completely dry. It had a strong odor too. On the eco solvent I have the ink takes on the appearance of the material - glossy or uncoated, more like printing. This seems to give it it's own appearance no matter the substrate.
The print wasn't as smooth or as high quality, but I paid for speed and quantity and I'm sure these are much more durable.
I'm assuming it was UV but I was wondering what people know who own the machines.
Can you tell me what I was looking at?
