Do you need a LCD for your Gerber Edge?

Cool- on of my edges has a display that's a little faint- are you sure that PN is compatable? Pins, size etc

FYI, the HD44780 chip is the de facto standard driver for these character LCDs, but pretty sure they're not made anymore. But most character LCDs are HD44780 compatible (such as the KS0108 and others). I've seen only a few variations of the pinouts, but for the inline pin format like this, the difference is mostly just whether there's a backlight or not and for the contrast control. So if your LCD is failing, you can most likely get a compatible one and remap a couple pins.
