Dock Piling Sign

I have an unusual sign request. Depth markers mounted on round dock poles. They will be about 6-12" wide and 20' tall. Don't have to be one piece 8' or 10' material will work. The biggest issue is that the bottom 6ft cannot be fastened, they don't have a diver to work underwater. That section will have to be rigid enough to stand by itself.
I need a stiff durable, saltwater resistant material.
Then there's the other issue, the constant wear on the surface of the sign from ice and debris in the water.
They currently have .375" aluminum that didn't hold up.
Right now I'm thinking reverse lettered lexan mounted (with silicone or vhb?) on a 4mm dibond.
Any other suggestions given these parameters??

That's a new one. You think maybe some of that plastic would work if you routed it? I forget what it's called....Like PTFE or something like that. Get a ___ ' long stick and just place router marks it it every ___" and just flood fill the marks with paint.

I dunno - just a thought. :)

Cheers,
Chad

I was going to suggest ColorCore also. I quoted a 4'x8' sign to be used in the salt water near a marina using that. Edited: it comes in black/white combination, so no paint ever. It's also very heavy and I would recommend a heavy duty aluminum angle iron frame around it.

Yeah - I just looked at the Azek website - and that's not exactly what I was thinking. But it may work. I was thinking about that material they use for cutting boards in professional kitchens, (kind of like raw Teflon - which may work too?) or something of the like. I'm not sure about paint and how it works with that stuff, and so maybe, for that reason alone, your Azek would work out well...??? Although - I used to do pile driving for a VERY short time and we did use a paint for our pilings that was made by Industrial Coatings (I think) and was made just for marine/standing water applications....I dunno - I'd be interested to hear what you end up using! Fun stuff!

Yea, couldn't be a worse environment for a sign, plus the not be able to fasten the 6' at the bottom....sheesh.
