No it's not I thought so too but no it's just a hole.

It may not be just a hole. Many of those handles take a pin that you push into the hole to release it. I have used a finish nail a few times for some of them. They do come off.
Some take some serious pressure to free them, so if you have an old screw driver that you could grind down to a point, and slightly flatten the end, that might give you enough pressure to make it push loose.
A screw driver from a set that you use to repair glasses might be enough too.

We used 3MIJ180 we have tried HP PVC free Wallpaper but that was a mess and it stretched so bad so we went to the 3M instead.
