Does anyone ever heard if HP will made a latex printer with white ink option? (models like the 300 series). I'm just curious.

They will make a white ink in Latex if the demand gets big enough but I wouldn't count on seeing one for a long time.

I was thinking since Mimaki is making one with white ink, maybe it would be an incentive for HP.

Does anybody own or saw result of the mimaki latex model? It as white ink and 4 picoliter compared to 12 picoliter of the HP. On paper, it's looking good.

We have an l25500, the newer 360 and a mimaki latex running cmykog+w and it is total garbage. I mean, total garbage. I've been running printers my whole life and we cannot get a quality print out of that mimaki for anything. The white ink is not opaque enough to flood with (mimaki confirmed this for us as well) so it's essentially useless. And it is SLOW..... vinyls run at at least 24 pass or higher for any kind of quality and other things run even higher. At this point we just keep it plugged in so the heads don't dry up. We are in the middle of buying a flatbed and we have required it to be taken as a trade in.
i love my hp's though! I just don't know what a white ink option would add that can't be accomplished in the finishing department (laminating clear to white vinyl etc). Maybe if it were opaque enough to flood as a blockout for two sided clings, but right now for two-sided window 'clings', we run 15oz two sided blockout or a thick poster stock as a cheaper option, and then put the gudy window adhesive on one side.

Amen to that. The only Mimaki latex I have ever seen is at a prison in Oklahoma. When I came in there and profiled it, they were running it at 48 pass.

Forty-eight pass!

I kept hearing Morgan Freeman's voice in my head saying, "Prison time is slow time..."

Plus they ran the thing with Flexi, and the Flexi driver wouldn't fire the white correctly. So for that all they were left with was RasterLink, which of course they did not have the profiling module for, so I couldn't do anything with it.

Much as I'm not a fan of HP latex right now, I wouldn't go near the damn thing.
