Are you saying you can open it in Illustrator but can't open it in something else, IE your RIP program?
If you have Illustrator and can open the file re-save it as a PDF or EPS file and try opening it again.

The term "vector image" is an oxymoron. It's either vector graphics or an image as in "raster"
Now, opening a file in ai format Is Adobe Illustrator. Are you saying you cannot open in illy where as you used to be able too?
