Drop shadow printing problem. Help!

Hello. I am trying to print a jpg file that was sent to me by a customer. The black and bluish text has a drop shadow. My 1204 printer and Flexi Cloud print the shadow OK, but (as you can see in the picture) it prints unwanted dark artifacts around the shadow. The unwanted dark artifacts around the shadow are not visible in the jpg before printing. Has anyone here ever seen this? Can anyone tell me how to try to fix it? Also, what is the name of the effect used to put the blue in the text? Thanks.

Looks like those colors are outside the gamut range of your printer/rip. Try opening the file with PS and converting it to CMYK in PS using your color-management workflow that your shop normally uses. It should get those back within standard CMYK gamut or they'll show up then. If they show up at that time, just adjust the curves or erase them.

All of the effects on the text can be achieved through proper use of PS's layer styles. This is usually one of the first things people figure out (and over-use) so, it appears that you're new to PS... So, give them a try and figure out how they did it!

Thanks for all of the comments. I was able to work around it this time. I exported it from CorelDraw as a CMYK file. Then I converted it to a RGB file with Flexi and the unwanted artifacts were gone.
