DX4 head removed and flushed with a syringe???

Hello. I removed the two2 DX4 heads from my SP300 printer to give them a good flushing with cleaning solution using a syringe. One really needed it and the other one not so much. When I connected the syringe to either stem (where the damper goes) and pushed cleaning fluid through the better head, the fluid comes out the jets in very fine streams, like it is suppose to. When I push fluid through either stem of the head that really needed cleaning, the fluid doesn't come out the jets--all of it comes out the other stem. Is this the way it should be? I put a new manifold on this head and got the same results--push fluid in one stem and it all comes out the other stem. If I put a cap on either stem and push fluid through, then it comes out the jets like it should. Is this head no good? The shot count on this head is 1,084,227 (M) and 901,143 (Y). Any helpful input from someone who has been there and done that will be greatly appreciated.
