DX4 Head Replacement on SP300V

Print all
Hey all,

I have a question that perhaps been already asked , I am in situation that I will need to replace black/cyan head pretty soon,
I have never done that before by myself, my question is not related to how to remove the head and install the new head but how to initiate that head
in the roland LCD panel..., I have seen that done on mimaki where a tech had to punch in a head number on the LCD display to initiate it in the printer...
How do I go about that on a roland ? what is the process ? , Now I know there will be a manual head adjustment / calibration as well.
Could somone please throw me something here...
Thanks !

New print head

All you need to do is enter the head rank in the service mode. This resets the counter on the head so you can see how many times the head has fired. We offer free tech support when you buy your parts from us

possible new head on my Roland SP 540 V?

Hi, When I got back to work this year, I found that on my SP 540 V, The head that fires Yellow & Magenta, on the magenta only, it prints lines. I tried cleaning in, did a head wash, even changed the data cables on the head and checked for any leaks on the ink pipe, but to no avail. Is it possible that that head needs to be replaced?
Any advice would be appreciated. thanks

That head

your yellow channel is firing on its own. You have some sort of electrical problem. You could swap the head cables and see if the problem shifts over to the black/cyan head (unplug the printer before trying this)

I'm no print head expert, but I agree it looks like an electrical issue, I would do as suggested above. At least you will narrow down the problem

But be careful, unplug the printer, wear a grounding strap on your wrist and the other end attached to the machine ground (metal part), I have seen many tine when folks on here swap cables they blow fuses and static ZAP their electronics etc.

This time of year we generate a lot of static electricity!

I don't need a print head yet for my SP-540V, but I'm sure that day will come.

I would consider purchasing my print head(s) from your company if you do in fact offer FREE support and can talk me through the removal and install process. It would be a great idea if you shipped a VERY CLEAR PDF installation guide with the replacement print head with photos showing the step by step procedure of the replacement procedure. I think you guys would sell more print heads to end users if we were 100% confidant we could change out the heads ourselves.

I for one do not have access to a local service tech, they charge $350 trip charge, before doing any work. I'm pretty much a DIY guy anyway, and can fix just about anything as long as I have instructions, I use dual 22" flat screen monitors on my design work station and have replaced bad caps in both when the died, they are working great.
