Eco Solvent ink from China

Has anyone bought eco-solvent ink from sign-in-china.com ? Was wondering how good is their ink. I have a Cj-500 converted to solvent printing, I have not used any ink in it yet since I just finished converting it. Any input on this?

i bought ink from china for years but it became too much of a hassle. their business practices are not quite up to american standards, so prepare to be stiffed a few times...

i swicthed to image specialists, at $80 a liter, it's a great price and the quality is much better.

personally I wouldn't put some un-heard of ink from china through my expensive printer! who is going to foot the bill if it damages the printer? If you are thinking of going with third party ink, go with one of the major players like triangle etc...

are people really selling their work for so cheap that they need to save every penny on consumables? how much would you save on a full bleed 4x8 print? $0.50?

I can't understand how if a print at 4' x 8' costs you $6.50 to print the entire 4' x 8' how doing it for $5.00 is going to make any difference ??

The customer pays for the whole job as you go. This is just the sign of someone that's a cheap wade..... at the time of buying...... taking a short cut that seems very risky to me. Business sense, not at it's best. :omg:

I am rather curious about the amount of ink used in the lifetime of a printer versus the cost of a printer if self....

I think for some high volume shops, the cost of printers is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of inks consumed....But, I do not think this would apply to a low volume retail shop with just 1 printer...

Saving 1 or 2 cents a square foot on a few 100 thousand square feet a year is not much of a concern to a small retail shop.....But to a volume trade shop doing millions or more square feet a year this may be a huge number....

i ran china ink through my printers for years, no problems. and at $10 a liter, yes $10 a liter, it was a smashing deal, even when you factor the difficulties buying from a guy who didn't speak english and was sometimes unreachable....

i bought way more than i needed and always made sure i had plenty of backup just in case.

i guess i'm just gettin old, $80 a liter and i can have it the next day is much easier than the china-hassle...

as far as wrecking your printer.... it's just ink. i tech my own printers, so worries like that don't exist.

we're talking about a country that used lead to make children's toys here! The QC of most products coming from china is non-existant. even if you tech your own printers, if it destroys a print head, you are still looking at at least $500 for the part, even if you change it yourself.

I'm actually considering just keeping my roland printer untill it dies, and not replacing it. I figure in 3-5 years digital printing will be so over run by undercutters and basement workers that I can buy my digital print work for far less than I can make it for!

I was told by an ink expert that most inks as specially eco Max just about all made in China. I heard good and bad things about Triangle inks, well as some others. Competing is important, but keeping up quality is even more important. For $30 a liter I just might be able to chance it.

Its hit or miss over there, deals are to be had but prepare for a lot of trial and error. If you were running a few soljets with the DX4's I would consider investigating and testing if the savings were going to be great. The good thing about the CJ500 is if you get a bad set of ink it does not cost much to refurb that printer compared to the newer larger printers.

I would stick with after market USA ink suppliers at liter or 5 liter containers if your using a CJ500. That printer if running 24/7 can only use so much ink....and if its running 24/7 maybe its time to upgrade to a faster machine.

I know its not the answer you were looking for exactly...we use Nazdar's ink its direct plug and play with exact color matching as the eco sol max and buying 1 liter bottles is half the cost of roland's ink. They just won an award for their ink too plus its all made in the USA.

The way I see it...

Print Bureau - go for it I say. If your only edge is price, then you need to save as much as you can, and it's all about costs.

Sign shop - you're a service first and foremost, not an onseller of cheap prints. Material/ink shouldn't really be playing a big part in the overall scheme of things? What about service, quality, response time, design skills, adobe/corel skills, tradesmanship? These are much bigger money makers than any amount of money you'll ever save on ink.

yeaaakkk ! just the word china make me feel nervous !!!.....:frustrated:

ink price is low but headache probabilities are high , (+ the amount of bad feedback ) ... does it really worth it ?

We have excellent compatible ink for your wide format printer. We're headquartered oversea but do have a sales office here in Southern California to service our USA clients. Most of our clients run their printers 12+ hours daily. For smaller sign shops, if running oem gives you a piece of mind; I say stay with OEM.
