About a year ago, I noticed that our Edge 2 fan wasn't running about the same time that another Signs101 member had the same thing happen and started a thread about it(here http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53650)
To quickly summarize - his problem was that the fan on his Edge 1 wasn't getting power so he rigged up a way to power the fan independently.
In my case, we had a spare Edge 1 so I just sat our Edge 2 to the side and went back to old faithful.
Now I'm doing some "housekeeping" and am revisiting our Edge 2 to see if we can get it back in action.
So this morning, I disconnected the fan from our Edge 2 and hooked it up to our Edge 1. It worked fine, so that rules out the fan as the problem.
Then I reinstalled the Edge 2 fan back into the Edge 2. It turns on, but at a much slower speed than when hooked up to the Edge 1. Next, I tested the voltage on each unit. On the Edge 1 it's 12VDC but on the Edge 2 it's only 3VDC.
So now I'm wondering if maybe the Edge 2 simply has some type of temperature switch that varies the voltage to the fan based on cooling needs. Can anyone verify this for me or offer any other advice?
