Does anyone know anything about this type of printer? I know it is mostly used for indoor printing, but also heard that it is capable of using pigment ink for outside work too.
Any info would be appreciated about this old type printer.

:help:

I think they're obsolete now- but still produced in Malaysia under licence, although not supported/covered by Encad/Kodak.
There was one for sale here 6 months ago- brand new- no bids I think.
The specifications are searchable.
You haver to use specialist media, from memory of when I looked into it.
I thhink they were a nice machine for what they were made for.

Good printers. I ran 2 of them and they are workhorses as long as they're always running.

Thanks guys.
I have a chance to get one of these machines new, and intended to use it for plan and map work.
Phillip, your meaning of "as long as they're always ruinning" you mean that they don't like being stored unused for any length of time? Clogging of heads maybe?

What's it cost in aussie dollars?
Is it from an aussie company?
What about warranty?
What source for parts, inks & media- someone in SA?

Cost, etc

Price I have been quoted is $5,000 AUD (brand new) plus GST
Spare parts available and seem to be reasonable prices.
All inks and media available too.
Local supplier (imported from overseas) 6 week wait for delivery.

My biggest worry is the quality of the printout, because not that long ago I bought a wide format printer for printing on vinyl and the quality of print was not that great. It uses XAAR 128 printheads (8 off) I was unable to print small text that could be read, but the printer works great for banners and billboards. The printer doesn't have any name attached to it, so I am unable to specify a brand.

A local sign magazine was advertising them last September for that price, and a laminator for $600 I think- they're the Malaysian imports- do a search for encad 750 & alibaba- and you'll see the specifications. I think the US dollar price is around $1500, plus shipping & middleman markup.

If you do get it, I'd be interested in your opinion!

P.S. can you PM or email me with the details about the vinyl printer you were unimpressed with, just so I don't go getting one too- thanks!

I had the Novajet 1000i 60" biggest mistake I ever did. Same here with the yellow, always problems. The media is expensive, inks are expensive, it cost me a lot more to run then my Mutoh. Even with the pigment inks and laminate, after 6 months it started to fade. I gave mine away to a close competitor,,,, he hates me more now,,, lol.
