encoder strip issues

I just replaced my encoder strip with an OEM encoder strip, but now my printer wont print anything it acts like it is printing but no ink is dropped. I've had this issue before so I went through the making sure the encoder strip is clean, cleaned the encoder sensor and nothing, please help.

are you positive this is just an encoder strip issue?
how long was your printer down? try a long nozzle wash, followed by a head wash (if you have cleaning cartridges), and see what happens after you fillupink and run another test print.

ya... I am extremely embarrassed to post this. But hopefully it'll help another blonde out one day... I forgot to take the protective film off the back of the encoder strip. Printer is back up and running!
