Encoder strip supplier?

Hahahahaha!

Oh man... sorry... last time my supplier quoted an encoder strip for me, they were charging $2,100.

No, that is not a typo.

Don't know if they do Roland, but try Adam from Inkmed. Chinese supplier that's a merchant member here, and I've heard good things. We're in the process of ordering 4 encoder strips from them, at the cost of 1/10th of a single one from our domestic supplier.

They're not hard to change out, but have you tried cleaning yours first ?? Usually you can clean them once or twice, even put them in backwards and they'll still work. Not upside down, but backwards.

Spendy ?? Did you not realize the costs of certain routine items needed to keep your machine working top notch when you bought it ??

Really, if properly maintained a strip will last you about three years. That's just $80 a year.

genericname, thanks for your kindly input.

You are right, generic encoder stripe is good choice.
price is competitive and work well.
key parts like printer head and boards have to use original parts.
consumable parts like dampers, encoder stripe, cap top can use the compitable one, it is cost.

my last encoder strip last 4 months...One tech said to clean it with alcohol but have since been told thats what make them go bad.. I will try his method of taking it out and cleaning with soap and water..

We started cleaning ours with acetone and it works great! Never had any issues with it damaging them.

isn't acetone far more stronger than alcohol?
i just wiped mine off with water. if that didn't work, i probably would have tried a mild soap.
