Question Epson Printer

So I decided to get a new printer and I decided to go with Epson s40670. Is Epson likely to release new models next year? I just don't want to get current models if new models will be released soon in case better ink and new features come with the new model.

Miguel: Don't overlook the newly released Canon 54" printers just shown at the recent www.PrintingUnited.com show in Vegas two weeks ago:

  • For non outdoor applications this is perfect for us.
  • It prints about 300 square foot an hour which is a hugely fast printer and the colors are gorgeous.
  • Our current workhorse printer is only about 120SF/hour (7 colors) and is the biggest bottleneck in the place.
  • The one on the left below is CMYK plus light black (basically for portrait/face/flesh tones from photography) – T8570D.
  • The one on the right below is CMYK plus red for a wider brighter gamut and for “brighter” prints with vivid colors - T7770D.
  • Both come with a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty.
  • Heads cannot be replaced by users, but a warranty can be bought for years 3+.
  • Needs aqueous compatible media, which is slightly more expensive than ecosolvent media, but only by pennies/SF.
  • Can use an internal RIP (not many settings) or any PC with the printer driver can print to it OR one can buy the $1300 ONYX RIP or the $3,500 ONYX RIP.
  • Looks VERY, VERY user friendly (e.g., low complexity/not-so-bright operators) will be fine!
  • Saw it print --- shockingly fast and beautiful prints (Epsons always prints nice images).
They are priced about $6,300 the ink cost about $0.22 a square foot (average) and comes in easy insertion ink cartridges.

We're buying two of the 7770D's from https://www.itsupplies.com/Epson-SureColor-P8570D-44in-Dual-Roll-Printer-p/scp8570dr.htm in Chicagoland.
