EPSON S80600 issues...?

I have been thinking of going to the Epson 80600, however a frind of mine ordered one about 4 months ago. Got it installed, and it was banding right away. During the install even. His company went back and forth trying to get the issue resolved through Epson directly ( he said they stopped calling back after the first month ) and through the supplier/dealer.

In the end the dealer opted to take the lemon printer and re-install a new one at his location.

The new one got installed yesterday....... It is banding too.

So this makes me super nervous to go Epson now.

Has anybody else had issues like this with their Epsons?

I have 3 running in our shop, and getting a new one next week. They have been great for us, very little issue. What are the print settings you're using?

I've had an S80 for 7 years, when it was brand new the prints were perfect, solid colours looked like cut vinyl. any time I've had banding it has been either because a print head needed to be replaced (ive had 2 replaced in 7 years) or because the environment of the print room changed (humidity, temp, etc.) usually I run an "easy media setup" and it prints beautifully,

Banding most likely means it hasn't been set up for the media and/or they aren't using the correct profile. I set mine up myself and had it running perfectly in a snap just by setting up each media correctly--using the automated setup in the printer's menus, and downloading the exact profile for the media I use.

There has been no banding on any media I have used. Like Canuck, solid colors come out as even and smooth as cut vinyl.

We actually get banding more often than we'd like but a quick pause and cleaning mid print usually takes care of it. It's usually a missing nozzle. Ours is 3 years old though and other than one other weird error we get all the time if the ink cartridges are low when it does a cleaning it's been awesome.

Ours has NEVER fed 63" wide banner very well though and you have to babysit it the whole time.

One other thing, shop around on ink. Our local vendor was 33% lower than the big national vendors we used to order from. This surprised us as everything else our local vendor has is priced super high. We're in Hawaii so shipping is a big part of it but 33% is huge.
