Epson S80600 Printhead issue

Hello:

We are running an Epson S80, approx. 3 years old but slowly having Print head issues. We are not close to a service Tech, so will cost $4-5000 to bring a Tech in. I just want to make sure we are 100% sure the Printhead is going. Anyone else out there know the signs to tell if the Printhead is fading? We are getting streaks & sometimes ink blotches, which phone tech says can be a clog. We do a full head cleaning but takes a lot of ink to do so & will run fine for 2-3 days & then the issues appear again. Any one know the average Printhead life & would this be something we could tackle in-house?

Thanks

Jeff

Might be the dampers clogging. I know the last time I had work done, it was just a flat rate to fix the issue, which was around $4k. But they fix whatever is needed to fix the issue for that flat amount. I got a new damper assembly, cap tops and new heads.

The 2 closest techs would be in NS most likely. Grimco and Spicers both have Epson techs, its just a matter of if they have them there. A nozzle test would be great to see if its head related. Damper can be the issue, but make sure it clean inside machine, clean the media guides, check capping station too. A hair on the capping station can be a pain. Check those first.

If you go thru Epson, yes its expensive because they only use 1 company for service, but anyone that sells Epson printers often have they're own techs. You should be able to find someone closer to you easily.
