Error 07 Head ****--

I replaced cables and still reads the same. I swapped two cables on the slider board and the error moved so I guess the problem is with the two heads. One head has ink primed to it the other does not. I also tried swapping cables out from slider board to heads with new ones and still the same error. How can I fix this? Are the heads trashed or is it an easy fix? The printer had been drained of ink previously and I was trying to fill with ink after running cleaning solvent through the system.

update

I manually primed the ink to the dampers and reset the machine after reseating the cables and got rid of the error. After the machine has time to warm up error 07 ****-- again. I am a noob and am starting from scratch on this. I noticed that when the pump is running I will see a bubble of ink pass by every now and then. Should the pump lines be full of ink while the pump is running or is this normal? I was also wondering if the caps were not aligned properly and maybe that is why the pump is not working properly. I moved the ribbons around and the error follows the first two heads. Any help on this topic will be greatly appreciated, I am trying to sell my stuff to prevent foreclosure.

Should never see air bubbles in the ink lines before the heads. That means you have a leak somewhere. It could even be from a poor seal at the cap if the bubble is just bobbing up and down right above the damper.

only data-error will throw that code. doesn't matter if the head is primed or not.

you have your cables mixed-up from the slider board to the printhead. make sure the sequence is matched, top = left i believe, and that the ribbon cables are seated fully and squarely.

When I swap the cables around on the slider the error moves with the head. Where ever I hook up the first two heads has the * symbol and where ever I hook up the last head has the - symbol. Is it safe to say that the heads need replacing or is there another solution?

The stars are the errors for every channel it exists on. If you have he same setup I do, kkmmccyy (4 print heads, 2 channels each) and are throwing a ******-- 07 error, then either your cables are not connected properly on the KMC heads, or they're fried entirely, or your board connections are fried. Try swapping the data cables from the yellow print head (at the slider board is easiest, with the cables from the other 3 heads to confirm that the error travels. If so, then the issue is isolated below the slider and you'll only either need new ribbon cables or, worst case, new printheads.

I'm also assuming that you know how to properly power-down your machine and discharge it of any power/static.

I learned this later on. I believe I fried the head by hooking the cable to the one right beside it, and also some solvent spilled onto the board of one of the heads that are reading the error. When I swap the cables at the slider the error follows the two bad heads. I guess this is my conclusion so I will look around for some new parts now, thank you for the help.

That'll do it. Gotta be a surgeon bro. That's why those techs charge $200/hr. buy some new ribbon cables while you're replacing the heads. Dampers too. Cheap parts that are a PITA to simply replace when you don't already have the printer broken-down.
