I changed out the Mother board and the Slider board of the Mimaki JV-3 and when i fired up the printer it is giving me an Error 7 code. Any way to bypass this?

• Abnormal head temperature is
detected.

1) Has ink in the camper run out?
2) Check the FPC cable connection.
3) Replace the Slider PCB with a new one.
4) Replace the head with a new one.
5) Replace the main PCB with a new one.

Check the power cable or slider cables for damage. HIGHLY doubt you can bypass that one.

who the hell is doing your service? you replace a main board because of an error 07? tell that guy to get out of your shop before something really bad happens. (wait, something bad did happen). look up some recent threads on data swapping. that is how you figure out where the 07 is coming from. argh.

i am working with jaly723 to get the JV3 going. the error code 7 is showing ***** all the way across the screen. the machine will power up and clean the heads then throw the code. i tried swapping the head cables and when i did it powered up and threw the code. what i am trying to say is it quit before it cleaned the heads. how can i tell anything if the screen shows stars all the way across the screen.

Well... head shorting...
Slider is what we changed as it can be mini fuses... then i had to do the head
is there an indication to which head with Stars?

dave,
thanks for the reply. we are trying to avoid .swapping abunch of parts if they are not needed. we have replaced the slider board, fpc cables, my problem is that the error code shows 6 astericks across the screen. artbot said to do an data swap. when we did it shows the same code. we dont know which direction to go from here. if we need to buy parts we will. does anyone know someone we could send the heads to to have them checked out if need be.

the problem is with a data swap you need a good head or channel to compare to a bad head or channel. the asterisks all the way across show that all of the heads or channels are bad. it looks like it could be really bad. the whole thing is very sad.

you could pull the slider board (very easy) and send it to macmedia and have them test the board. if the board comes up fine, there is a good chance that all of the heads are fried. in that case, i would blame the main board, assuming that it is not properly installed.

thanks, artbot
you are right it is very sad. we will take your advice and get the slider checked out first. the thing that is so bad is that we have a pile of heads used and 7 slider boards used laying here. we don`t know whats good or bad. we will keep you posted on what we find out.

we have found the problem. it was a bad slider board from mimaki. we replaced it and the thing works fine. thanks, for all of the input.
