Ever use translucent vinyl for decals?

We found a pretty good rolls of translucent vinyl left over from a couple jobs and were going to just toss it and one of the kids in the shop suggested he wanted to use it to cut decals for his friends to put on their cars and asked me if it would work and honestly I didn't know the answer I have never even thought about using translucent for anything other than signs. So what's your opinion on this, think it would work? If it does I will let him have at it after hours but I don't want him to get into any trouble with people complaining the decals he gave them are falling off or anything like that.

Sure, the only issue would be the color it is applied to, anything other than white the color will be affected.

The only time translucent is translucent is when the light on one side of it is brighter than the ambient light on the other side. I use odds and ends of translucent vinyl just like opaque vinyl [which may or may not be opaque] and have never experienced a problem. The biggest difference is that it tends to be not as glossy as opaque vinyl.

with a dark trans it would be OK but if using yellow on a black car, it won't

yellow of any type of vinyl over a dark color of anything does not work. For example. Yellow over blue shows green every time.

I use Gerber 220 series and light colors on dark work OK. there's a slight color shift but not bad and not enough that anyone would notice.
