Everything went...right?

Had a solo install yesterday that I'd been a bit nervous about over the weekend, mainly due to having to remove a panic bar from a commercial door to apply privacy film. Watched several videos on YT on how to remove/install them and felt I could handle it. Decided to tackle that door first and was able to get the bar off the door without issue, but noticed there was a little latch that looked like it would be tricky to get lined up back into place. Sweated a little and just proceeded with the window film not sure what I would do if I couldn't get it back together, and right as I was finishing up guess who walks up and looks at the door? A frickin' locksmith! He was at the building on another job, had seen me removing the bar, and asked if I needed help getting it back on the door so I said sure. Fortuitous timing.

Part of the install was outside, weather was perfect...sunny, no wind. Installed lettering on another door and noticed a dot from a lowercase i missing...oops. It happens. Figured I would just sneak back there today and put a dot on, but then as I was removing some other door lettering in the same building what did I see? The same size lowercase i, so I lifted it with a razor blade and stuck it on the new door. Hey, whatever works. As I was finally wrapping up, it was after 6pm at this point and the building was closed, another tenant on his way out approached me and said he needed window lettering, so I probably got another job out of it. More fortuitous timing. I had also quoted 3.5 hours labor and I finished the job just shy of that. I love it when my quotes are dead on and I can honor the original price.

Of course, this may all be a setup for a disaster on the next job. :D

Update: I emailed the customer the invoice after posting this thread and it was paid within 20 minutes!

Something bad is about to happen, I can feel it. It's uncanny, I tell ya!

I like making signs
Sounds to me like you simply did a great job installing and with your customer service - now the customer is rewarding you for that :)

That must be a perk of being a girl. If a locksmith walked by a dude there is a 0% chance he is asking if you need help.

Nah, if you were sweating a little, and looked like you were unsure of what you were doing - that locksmith would saunter up to you too.

Maybe if the locksmith was from Florida and named Notareal...

If a guy is walking by and sees a somewhat decent looking chick, he's looking for a way to talk to her. Watching her struggling with something that he can help with is the perfect setup.

Just for the sake of argument..
Gnubler is in a rural small town community. I think that locksmith would have helped any neighbor. People are generally nice to each other in smaller communities. For no other reason than to be a "good neighbor". Not counting the random methheads.

ETA... Or maybe she's cute, I shouldn't speak for her. :p

Boudica is correct. The locals here are generally very friendly and polite, it's like Pleasantville sometimes. Very few men do any sauntering, I think there's like 3 gay people in the entire county.

(I'm not cute, but I am nice to strangers if they're nice back.)

In my defense Tex, your short stature and mullet confused me until your turned around.
Really though, I'm not much of a helper. I walk right by thinking to myself, what a dumbass.

IF for example, Tex, gino or i were at that same place, struggling with a lock mechanism, we might have been given a "cash discount" (% off the regular rate) but probably no more than that.

Tex, Gino and you. Three sign guys, that’s like sitting in a tree blind during deer season and three scragaily bucks come meandering below. I am not shooting at any of them, not worth the problem of dragging the body out.
But an old prev locksmith seeing a female bending over and having a problem, he will be ordering some magnets for his truck. He’s in love.
