eyes of the linear encoder sensor

Regarding the cleaning of the eyes of the linear encoder sensor, I presume it is removed while the print heads are on the cap station and the white plastic piece directly above must be removed? How concerned do I need to be that I may not get it installed back exactly where it was before and printing will be affected?
Thank you.

The eye needs to be aligned correctly but it isn't that hard to get back into position.
The other things come off easy enough too for you to get to it.
