fading/discoloration on end of rigid PVC roll...

I was on the final panel of a trade show booth print job, and the colors became faded and discolored on the last 5 feet of media. It wasn't a clogged print head either, it was something to do with the media on the end of the roll. It was Optima 18 mil rigid PVC, and I had to order another $280 roll just to redo a 6 foot print. Do I have any grounds to ask for a refund or anything?

what I've noticed on things like banner material and media on rolls in general is that the last 5-6 feet are total garbage. Im pretty sure it has to do with the coating rubbing off from the tightness of being at the very end of the roll. All laminate I've ever used, the last 3-4 feet is useless and has a different texture from being wound up so tight.
