while you wait for your ideal solution, I would like to know what's going on?

I grew up in Hoffman Estates, so that's half the reason I checked out your post...

I ran my Mimaki JV3 160-sp literally almost every (business) day, for seven years...


I assume you're situation is pretty bad to go straight into asking for on-site help, so maybe you have exhausted any chance of help coming from written information, but I'll ask anyway...

I don't drop in that often around here, but was here every day back during those 7 years with my Mimaki, and from that experience, I think you should invest a little time introducing yourself and the details of your printer issue. Especially when this is your first week posting here, it might bring more discussion if you request wasn't as narrow as an on-site tech. There are a lot of guys that know that printer as well as the best tech's, and better than some... but you need a conversation to hang on the front page here long enough for some of them to see this post...

Also, did you try searching the Mimaki forum (here) for previous posts about similar issues to yours? That might be helpful...


I've never even changed a printhead, or ever had to screw around with syringes in the lines, like a lot of guys here, so I'm not at all savvy in printer tech territory... but you can call me if you you thought my experience just from using or maintaining could possibly help you. Hi Thanks for the reply, if you notice it was 11:30pm when I wrote that post I was quite frustrated at the time and i'm at witts end with trying to dial in this printer.
I sorry for not being a little more pleasant.
If anyone could help I would be more than appreciative.
Installed:
2 new pumps
4 new caps
8 new dampeners
New black head
New cyan head
yellow looks fine
magenta 90%
attached are the screen shots

P.S. Yes Ive done the searches downloaded the manuals and have done (I Think) every thing besides a mechaical adjustment and the fine tuning in the adjust menu.

was the magenta acting goofy before all of your replacements?
you might just have some gunk on that part of the printhead, and even though you're not supposed to touch the bottom of the printhead... I've been able to take a foam swab that is saturated in cleaning solution and give the bottom of the head one gentle wipe in the direction the wiper usually cleans it. repeat, if necessary, BUT only with a clean swab per swipe. (you can easily lose nozzles if you scrub pigments into the nozzles and clog them up.)

otherwise, it looks like it just may be a loose-seal between the capping station and the magenta head, improperly refreshing the siphon of the ink supply. when this had happened to me in the past, I just gently pull-up on the cap to raise that black rubber captop seal ever-so-slightly, so that there is a snug-fit when the head parks on it.

you also may need some flushing to get the head back to 100%, as the ink has most likely been sitting stale on that part of the head for some time now. a few 99min nozzle washes should do, but if it's still not helping then you may need cleaning cartridges and a headwash.

no wonder you have issues :)

no biggie. Function menu > Maintenance > Nozzle Wash
fill the caps with cleaning solution, press enter when prompted.

p.s. I ran Disway Wash twice a week, Nozzle Wash at least once a week, and was constantly cleaning my wiper/capping station for 6 years and never an issue until my heads just plain died from overuse. Maintenance schedule is key, or that ink will build-up and ruin your machine.

I been hearing about this nozzle wash and seen it in the menu but didn't buy the cleaning cartridges.


I'l be giving that a try.... :notworthy:

head wash you need cleaning cartridges. don't start this unless you actually have them handy.

nozzle wash you just need the solution to fill the caps. the machine will keep the caps from draining while the heads park on them and soak for the 1-99min. that you designate in the menu.

Ok I've looked thru my menu and can't seem to find the nozzle wash option....would you be able to tell me where to look?

And if I haven't said enough thank you very much for all your asstance.

Go to maintance then hit enter twice it will be the second prompt then hit enter and fill your caps up with cleaning solvent hit enter then hit the arrow key upto 99 minutes. I do head washes every other few days.

Hello Chicago Graphics and thank you for the relpy. I see your in chicago are you familiar with setting up the print quality portion of this machine? I would love to einlist somone to help me.
