FB550 "Correct" way to do Y Alignment after PH install

Hey guys I looked around but couldn't get a definitive answer. I've done PH install a few times and had an HP tech come do it a couple times. I'm at the Y alignment calibration part and I've gotten conflicting info from the old service manual and the techs I've spoken to. This part:

The service manual tells you to stagger the printheads by "pixel", but most techs have told me the way they are taught is to align the marker line to the exact center (all the printheads). The manual seems outdated and incorrect; it's wrong about crucial parts of the PH replacement procedure. So what's the consensus? Stagger the print heads like the manual says or have them all in-line like the techs have said?

You need to stagger them by so many pixels, as the manual says. It is important to check the top line of the test print with a magnifier. Otherwise it's easy to be a complete line to far off.
