FC9000 - Media lock issue

Just got FC9000 and I've noticed that the media lock is not working as it should. Am I doing something wrong or could it be factory defect? (All of the screws are tight)

I've been using Graphtecs for 15 years and have never used that, I've seen the lock on my FC9000 but never even got curious enough to figure out what its for. What's it for?

90% of what I do is print and cut... So I just press my thumb against the marks until they're in the channel and load that way. Get through a whole roll without any skew.

I used to use it when I had to cut 48" x96" traffic signs on 48.25" material... But nowadays we don't do that.

its suppose to lock up, but it drops after some shaking. Never used it.

Easier to reach over and hold it. Or just line up the corner marks with the roller shafts and lock into place.
