Hello,
I have this error on my Roland VS640.
FEED MOTOR ERROR 00cc 0004

This may sound stupid, but do I just need a new Feed Motor?

you are not really giving enough information

does the media advance when you press the arrows?
does it make an odd noise?
does the error come up every time?

i get that error if i reach end of roll & am not paying attention
i assume you are powered up, media loaded, have setup medial
when you press "test print" i would expect the carriage to move (enough to print nozzle check) return to home then advance media A LITTLE BIT then the head would move again

when in that sequence does the error happen?

Hello, the error code comes up when I start the machine, I can do nothing with it apart from turn it back off as the error says.

you may need to wait till all the fuses are in.
i would think the startup pulses the motor,, moving a fraction of an inch & looks for a pulse from some sort of sensor with a wheel
