Fellers

So I emailed fellers the other day to see if they had 3651 clear, and 210 in stock at my local fellers 15 min away from me. Never got an answer from them. But UPS shows up today with the 2 rolls! Hellooooooo! When did i give permission to go ahead and charge my card and ship this?! Morons! Now I'm waiting on a return shipping label to be emailed to me. :banghead:

One more reason I like a good old fashioned phone call. Also I do not give any vendors permission to keep my credit card on file. yeah it is a bit of a PITA to have to give them the number each time but not as hard as fighting for charge backs and call tags.

Phone calls > emails. Terms > credit cards.

Also, does anyone else 'LOL' whenever they're on hold and hear the Cowboy talk about how it's like playing "Russian Roulette" when dealing with other distributors? Seriously, that guy is a nut.

I dont think its a matter of paying the shipping as they dont charge for shipping on orders over $100 ... ACE, yes he is a nut and i laugh at him all the time but then again the dough he rakes in i wouldnt mind the people who are making me rich laughing at me

The funny thing years ago during our first sign business adventure we used to order all of our blank banners from them. They were called Ameriban at the time, and pushed banners and Mac Tac like cake to a fat kid. About ten years ago I was on hold with Ameriban listening to Franks piped in voice and then frank actually said How can I help you in that distinctive voice. I said Really, is this frank? He said all of the other salespeople were on the lines so he jumped in. He was actually very personable.

I emailed late at night so i couldnt call. And I may have ended up using it eventually. But there prices are a bit higher than others. I also ended up buying from the other local place anyways. And fellers charges me tax because i cant show proof of my permit to make sales, and they wont just take the number, they want a picture of it. and the state is taking forever to send me a new one. Already got the return labels. Now i have to drive to a UPS location to drop it off which is probably further than fellers itself.
Never using fellers again.
Obviously it was a commision hungry salesman that put this order in.
Here is exactly what i wrote to them in the email... No more no less!

Is this available in the Pawtucket RI location?
Clear Orajet 3651 in 36" or 54"
Oraguard 210 36"

Does that sound like im placing an order?

No that in no way sounds like an order. Wow I would love to have a local supply source much less multiples. The closest one we have in any direction is over 300 miles away so I am 2 days shipping from any supplies.

You used to be able to call and ask for him and they'd connect you to him.

Fellers has always matched or beat prices of other suppliers, in my experience.
That just leaves you with the problem of your email turned into an order, which could have been an honest mistake by somebody down the pipe.
If that's all it takes for you to say you'll never use them again, though they are that close...get ready for a wake up call.
No supplier is perfect and WILL eventually screw something up. I'd give them another chance if they were that close to me.

I've only really used fellers for inks in an emergency situation since they are the only local place that has Mutoh inks. The other supplier only deals with roland. The other supplier also have everything i need. vinyl, banner, every substrate under the sun, etc. Not to mention its a privately owned company, not a big brand like Fellers. I rather support the smaller guy (especially when his prices are a bit better)

Lots of people nock the cowboy but I have to say I have a fellers a grimco, tape technologies and farco (farco only carries substrates) and I have never had a problem with Fellers.

I buy 99.9999% of my vinyl from them because I call my sales rep up and say hey whats your best price on this and 9 out of 10 times its lower than the rest and when its not I show them my quote from the other guys and its usually matched or beaten.

As for Frank himself super nice guy. I meet him at a trade show in Orlando years ago I had just started my company and purchased maybe $300 worth of stuff from them in the few months before the show (it was a side business) but Frank treated me (32 year old at the time) like I was one of his best clients was very friendlly and answered all my questions and never once tried to hurry me along even after telling him I was just starting out and it was a side thing.

Side note: I always call my orders in and then go pick it up (if its in stock) 10 min drive catching every red light from the shop.

We're still new in the game, there are so many vendors out there, it gets confusing. I've been choosing who to purchase from based on the service I receive almost more than the price.

This is a new venture for me, but I'm not new to the world of business, I started in retail many years ago and still remember everything I've been told.

Second job I had, I was 15 (started working at 14 on a county permit, 25 hours a week) One of the greatest people I ever knew, probably could have been rich, but he preferred happy. One thing he instilled in me, the guy that came in to buy a $1.00 item gets treated the same as the guy who just spent $3k.

I called Fellers, needed a 6" roll of tape. The person on the other end of the line answered every question, offered suggestions and never made me feel rushed. Called back in for the next order, not huge, only around $500 or so, same thing, great service, offered suggestions, even went so far as to arrange for the items to come out of other locations, even though the location in Jax had some of the items in stock, just so I wouldn't have to drive out there. They could have saved 3/4 the cost of shipping having me pick most of it up, but said this sounded more convenient.

Dozen or so other big companies that will NEVER get my business, regardless of how big we get, because they treated me like a pest when we were small.

I was also with fellers since they were ameriban stayed with several year until a few years back they kept jacking billing up, so I left. Aint been back since.

tried Denver supply a couple times and liked the prices and the promptness. They had me fill out credit app ( for some reason) and freakin denied me! Are you kidding me!

we are now with advantage sign supply and I'm very pleased

I have been with Fellers since they were Ameriban when Frank answered the phone selling banners and Bannercal.. I have never have had a problem and only excellent service and price. When they ship from multiple locations and no freight is charged how can anyone complain? I buy from other vendors also and recommend any I use.

We've been with Frank since he and his uncle started American Banner in 1986. Our customer number is #4. That's how long we've been a customer. Granted, as they removed more and more from their catalog, we get less, but we still get phenomenal service, quality and prices. We used to get our screen supplies from them, brushes, banners and all kinds of other stuff, but now... it's mostly just vinyl. There isn't another company around with their abilities.

Ya might find someone to beat a price here or there, but when it comes to integrity, nobody has more than Frank himself. :thumb::thumb::thumb: three Yahoos to Frankie................

My first vinyl order was with Fellers. Talked to the local rep and right now, pricing is probably better that anyone around.
Some stuff might be slightly higher, but if you talk to them, they will revisit their price and make it right.
Find out who is your local rep, and talk to them.

Started with Oracal and Fellers, staying with Oracal and Fellers (Until somebody messes up badly)

Im just small potatoes..probably 3-4 rolls pf print vinyl a month averaged out. Fellers has been awesome to deal with and my rep is good to me.

Can't say enough good about Fellers,

we are in the middle the Magnum Magnetic issue and Fellers gave a full refund on the partial roll that we have plus allowed us to the switch brands (to CAR-SAFE) which has a stronger PPI and kept the special price that was on the account

There's still people here at the shop that remember him as well... and to see his picture, and hear his voice again when put on hold, our old graphics-gal gets a kick outta him.
Fellers' service is top-notch. maybe a mistake on their-end, but I'm sure they would gladly remedy the situation if you work WITH them.

I have always had great service from Fellers. I too have talked to Frank, it was back in the Ameriban era...I thought I was a low customer number, I am under 8,000 (not giving my customer # out)
