How do you turn of the default fill stroke in flexi 8.5...what is happening is every time i start a new file or shape it will have a stroke i have to clear the stroke every time in the fill stroke editor ,i have the line set to 0.000 and i change the color to transparent and also hit clear to make it go away,,but everytime i make a new shap or file it defaults back to black and i have to clear it again. any help would be cool

Make sure nothing is selected (ctrl+shift+a) and just click the clear button on the stroke tab in the fill/stroke editor. Works for me every time

Usually that default carries over into the new files.

Try creating a new file then set your defaults and save it as "defaults" or anything really.

If that doesn't reset it you could always use that "defaults.fs" file as a template and just open that when you want to start a new file and just do a save as.

still no fix?

I have this problem too. There HAS to be a way to restore default to NO STROKE. Mine is stuck on red at the moment, & it varies... sometimes it remembers a stroke I used for a job & saves that as the default. I can't figure out what I am doing to make that the default, or how to make the default no stroke.

If the steps mentioned above didn't work you could always restore the factory defaults.

I don't know what version your using but if you go to the Start menu > All Programs > then open the folder for Flexi (mine is called SAi Production Suite).

Inside of that folder will be a program called Preference Manager. Open that and load "Factory defaults".

Once you do that it will reset the program including all your tool bars and color palates.

it all seems like a lot of work for something that should have a simple fix.

how does Flexi sign pro decide when it wants to take a stroke you recently used & make it the default stroke? and then without warning, a few jobs later, it decides to make NO stroke the default?

it has to be something the user is doing. to constantly restore to factory defaults would be ridiculous compared to what we are currently doing (clearing or changing the stroke before each job or shape)

I'm not sure. Maybe your changing the default and not realizing it.

My mother always seems to have the same problem with the stroke and every time it's because she forgot to reset the default or changed the default without realizing it. I've never had an issue with the defaults not sticking.

As I mentioned earlier, this always works for me.

The Preference Manager is designed to be much more than just restoring the factory defaults. When I was employed by SA International before their exodus to Utah, I would recommend everyone in my training classes to save their own personal preference file once they finished adjusting their toolbars, setting up their output devices, re-assigning shortcut keys, etc. just in case intermittent issues appear similar to the one outlined in this thread. A lot of time will be saved in the long run when this becomes the last option.

You can even copy this file from one computer to another if you are continually moving your key from one system to the next for production purposes. The default location is: C:\Program Files\SAi\SAi Production Suite\Jobs and Settings\Devices\Preferences

The Preference Manager can be accessed from the Start (button)>All Programs>SAi Production Suite on your Windows taskbar.
