Finding the copyright owner... Feeling lost

You do realize that not every design was created to sell, a lot of design is for a specific "one time" use.

So an artist creates something for a one time use.... Not to sell to anyone?? AND then he or she posts, at the very least, a 2k-3k pixel jpeg image of the artwork on a blank background online WITHOUT a watermark so that you or I could admire their work and if not buy that piece, at least commission another??


I know a lot of you are artists, please show me where you have ever done this

Its funny that all of this is going on as I took my time to track down a kid in the Philippines and send him some $$$ for using something he did for a client.

so how did he get your artwork?

he took the graphics off the brochure ( which you could get at the stores the product was sold) and he did what ever he needed to do to reproduce the ones he like. the brochure had all the different titles/themes we offered.

Ahhh so he sold/promoted your product and then bootlegged it and sold it himself?

Just use it. Regardless circumstances using it doesn't carry the death penalty.

The entire concept of intellectual property and especially the enforcement of such is hopelessly flawed. Once upon a time it made sense but technology drove right over transforming it into road kill it on its way to tomorrow and the next day where it made everyone a potential, and perfectly reasonable publisher, and distributor of damn near everything.

If someone sends me art with no watermark or distinguishing ownership signatures Im gonna use it. I dont waste my time doing an internet search and trying to play attorney and copyright activist. Usually(as Jill mentioned) I will change it up anyway. what is the worst damn thing that will happen? NOTHING! If you did get a call or an email I would be shocked.
Are you going to post the damn images? I would like to know what it is myself as would others. Plus, how much time have you already wasted on this job?
